Last Saturday, Voca People performed live at the Palladium. It was my first time seeing the group and by the time the hour-and-a-half long performance ended, I was completely blown away. The group blends a cappella singing, beat boxing and physical comedy into one stunning performance that features little more than eight people standing onstage, but at times, manages to [...]

There’s a little bit for everyone at Actors Theatre of Indiana’s current production, “The Musical of Musicals: The Musical!” This spoof of musical theater is enjoyable for everyone from the most avid of Broadway fans to those that are married to them and have trouble just spelling it (the former being my wife, the latter being me). “Chicago” is perhaps a steamier show than Beef and Boards audiences are used to. The costumes are skimpier, the language more raw. However, the quality of dancing and singing is some of the best I’ve ever experienced there. And it is, after all, a show about murderesses fighting for the media spotlight during Prohibition. By Kerrie Miller When I attend a live performance of any kind, I usually sit straight up in my seat so as to take it all in. On Saturday evening, while I was at the Tarkington Civic Theatre, I found myself sitting forward in my seat, chin in my hands and a permanent smile on my face as I was [...]

Throughout the performance, the audience is made more and more aware [...]

After his Aug. 22 performance at the Palladium, it’s easy to understand it is [...]

In any language, the Gipsy Kings reign supreme! For the fourth time attending their live performance this seemed the best of the bunch. Having seen the band, composed of two sets of brothers, formed in 1987, perform in Bethedsa, MD and at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA in both the late 1990s and mid-2000s, the Gipsy Kings have not lost [...]
